Alas, I think it is time to trim my subscriptions/flist; I am finding it too difficult to keep up with everyone. So this is advance notice that if I unfriend you, it's nothing personal.
I will also probably be removing duplicates where people are on both DW and LJ. If you have a preference for which one I follow you on, let me know.

I've been posting-by-email my "Netfic Reviews" reviews here (basically at the same time as I put them up on my website). Because I'm not getting feedback about them, I give you here a poll.

I have an AO3 (Archive of Our Own) invite! Anybody want it?

Also, can I request that folks who cross-post between DW and LJ add a footer which indicates the LJ post? The reason I would like this is that, if crossposting is enabled, and comments are enabled in both places, I'd like to be able to follow both sets of comments. At the moment, I can only do this by following people on LJ (because the LJ post links back to the DW post) but I would prefer doing it the other way around.

The way you enable this feature is this: go to "Crosspost Settings", go to where your LJ account is listed, click on "Change" and you will then be transported to the "Edit External Account" page. Click on "Display Cross Post Links" to enable the display of a link to your LJ post. Thank you.

I'm finding it hard to keep up, it's time I winnow my flist/circle. And one thing I should do is remove duplicates (even though the read-from-DW thing isn't implemented yet).

Also:
A) I know there's a way one can change one's "default" filter on LJ. Can someone tell me how?
B) If anyone has posted stuff recently that I've probably missed and I should see, tell me in comments, yes?

I guess nobody wants to do the "Rec your own fic" meme? Would you do it if I begged nicely?

Has nobody got any fic recs for me?

Random thought: The difference between a bug-fix and a feature is that you pay extra for a feature. Which is why some of our clients try to disguise them as urgent bug-fixes.

I got a bunch of enthusiastic reviews (from one person) on http://www.fanfiction.net/~kerravonsen, so I started uploading some more of my stories. They will probably all be ignored. (Iz sad)
kerravonsen: Second Doctor about to type in the Land of Fiction: "Fanfic: everyone does it" (fanfic)
It has been pointed out that much of the fic on my site doesn't have an actual place to make comments on it. Since I don't have my site set up for comments, it has been my practice to link to LJ posts for the said stories, but I just realized that stories written before I had set up that policy don't actually have posts for them. So very soon I'm going to be spamming my flist with placeholder comment posts for older fic, so please excuse me.

ETA: Okay, it looks like one can set a post not to display on reading pages, so I'll do that - but be prepared for mistakes; it you see suddenly appearing and disappearing posts, that will be why.

I have a Dreamwidth account!!!
Please to be telling me if you are on Dreamwidth too, and who you are there.

So I have now joined the ranks of those who do massive cross-posting on multiple personal journals (LJ, IJ, Inksome, and now Dreamwidth). I was using Charm at first, but while it sort of supports cross-posting, it isn't really oriented towards that. So I have just finished writing (and quick-testing) a script (perl script, which uses the LJ::Simple interface) which cross-posts to multiple journals at the same time. Yay! It's a very simple command-line interface, nothing fancy, but I think the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

I'm thinking of deleting the inksome journal, though. Dreamwidth will be better, and IJ was able to import all my past entries, while Inksome couldn't. I have imported all my past entries to Dreamwidth too.

Bring on the open beta!

This is a test. If this were an actual post, there would be content.
I am testing a cross-posting script. It probably won't work.

This is my second attempt; the first attempt almost worked.

I just got a comment from a random person on this post I made over a year ago. What is more, this person appears to have created an LJ account for the sole purpose of making that comment. What gives?

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl

I have 35 people on my flist, and I'm on other people's flists (44 of them). You folks range from close friends to people I've never so much as talked to on LJ once, with a big bunch falling somewhere in between. Hello! Welcome!

But y'know, I'm shy of friending people I don't know, and I feel awkward to just jump into and comment on friendsfriends even if they've said interesting things, because I'd just be a random stranger, yes? (Comments on fic is notable exception) And, even more embarrassing is when Person A (whom I think I don't know) turns out to actually be Person B whom I do know, but using a different nom-de-net. Very confusing.

So, what I'd really appreciate is if all of you flist folks, wherever you fall on the spectrum, would come on by and say "hi" here. (Re)-introduce yourself, maybe mention how you ended up friending me, tell me something random about yourself, whatever you like. And, if you're so inclined, let me know what you'd like from me as a, um, flist-person, whether it's "Don't mind me, I'm only here for the fic" or "Don't be such a stranger, come on over to my LJ and talk to me more!" or "Actually, we don't have any fandoms in common any more and I'd like to take you off my flist now" or "Hey, the only reason I haven't been commenting here is because I felt awkward about talking to you", or whatever. It's all good! I won't get offended or freaked out by any of it, I promise.

With no announcements, no consultation, the New Management have sneaked in a despicable change: they have eliminated Basic Accounts.

ETA Despite the fact that I have a permanent account, I'm wondering if I should leave anyway. (Won't delete the journal, just leave it sitting there) So which alternative journal place is the one that everyone seems to have alternative accounts at?

Well, I didn't finish my finish-a-thon story, but I did make an icon, like I threatened intimated I would do. Methos, the Ancient (Really Old) Guy, and Death of the Endless. How do you do? 8-)

Meme sheeped from [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2. Take a look at my icons and tell me:

1. One that makes you automatically think of me.
2. One that you think I should TOTALLY use more often.
3. One that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why the hell I have it.

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha:
Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance does it have.

Of course, "every tenth icon" is a bit hard to decide in what direction one is supposed to be counting, but since it's easier to count down in columns, that's what I'm doing.

According to [livejournal.com profile] drakyndra's Chocolate Theory of Doctors the Doctor is like chocolate -- all of him. Though like different kinds of chocolate. So, inspired, I have made a "Like Chocolate" icon for each of the Doctors.
