I just got a comment from a random person on this post I made over a year ago. What is more, this person appears to have created an LJ account for the sole purpose of making that comment. What gives?

How strange. Your post must have tweaked something in them for them to bother, huh?

At least it's sort of relevant. I've had completely unrelated comments on ancient posts. But yeah, that's seriously odd.

And he's from Mormon country. Odder still.

I'd guess that he was searching Google for reviews of the book and came across yours.

I agree with Watervole. If you google '"When I Say No, I Feel Guilty" by Manuel J Smith' your LJ post is mid-second-page.

As to why he'd bother commenting on something old - that doesn't seem to odd to me, esp. for someone new to LJ. I kind of wish the culture were such that conversations happened over weeks/months, not hours, because of my schedule and how my brain works.

I've got to groan at the commenter, though... The subject *is* something I find interesting to discuss with people, but usually it helps to know something about who I'm talking to, because we do bring so much of ourselves into discussions about morality. But that's not the beginning and end of it.
