Today I played around with GIMP, trying to make interesting star-like things, and doing LOTS of tweaking tweaking tweaking. It's kind of hard to stop tweaking once you start, because you can never be sure that the next image won't be better than the previous one.

NAtional ARt MAking MOnth has begun again! Though it's actually international.
The idea is to make (a piece of) "art" every single day of this month, where "art" is as broad and inclusive as possible. To be fun and creative whether one is "artistic" or not. Doesn't mean you can't be artistic, either. Some people use it as an opportunity to go all thematic with their art. Others use it as a time to learn new things/techniques.

But, basically, do something every day, post in the comments, and admire other people's work.

I've been playing with my new toy, a deluxe spool-knitting gizmo, which I bought on Friday. I don't think it will be quite as portable as my crochet stuff, because it doesn't appear to be quite as amenable to shoving into a bag when one's bus stop arrives; it's designed to be put down on a table when one needs to pause in working. That's okay; it being the weekend, I did get quite a bit of working in.

More craft, that is. Today I managed to do the finishing touches on the corkscrew-spiral crochet necklace I've been working on for a while. There was a point when it felt like it would never get finished, because there were a LOT of stitches to do, and the yarn was really thin and the crochet hook was really small (1.25mm), and I would sometimes get cramps in my hands because of that. But it is now DONE.

I have sent my SSHG Exchange story to the mods! Yay!

I'm thinking I might do naarmamo this year after all, since vilakins suggested that I didn't have to stick to really small projects, just so long as I did something every day and posted about it. There's certainly a lot of art-y stuff I am itching to do after buying all those craft books earlier in the year. Like teaching myself crochet. And then bead crochet. And wire work. So I might do that.

Still havent seen HBP2. So I'm avoiding discussion of it at the moment. Planning to see it with my brother on Sunday.

And naarmamo is almost over. This one has whizzed past, and I did cool stuff! Here's today's, which is an emendation of yesterday's.
