kerravonsen: Three penguins around the TARDIS: Adoration of the Penguini (tardis-penguins)
The Smith Awards voting is now open! The Smith Awards is a nifty idea; voting is done by anonymous reviews, which means one gets actual reasons to go with the votes, and one ends up with a whole bunch of reviews at the end. Which is cool.

So go and join in!

Because I'm curious.
If you had me at your beck and call, and could induce me to write a story for you, what would you want me to write? Do not include impossible ideas, such as fandoms I don't know, or ratings and genres I don't write.

And, no, this is not an offer, I'm just curious. Mind you, if you had a compelling, killer idea, maybe that would get the Muse interested...

From [livejournal.com profile] jedi_buttercup:
Pick up to 15 OTPs/OT3s/etc. pairings, OT3s and friendships.
Describe them in less than 15 words.
Have your flist guess the persons and fandoms.

Like [livejournal.com profile] jedi_buttercup, have mutated this meme to include friendships as well as "pairings". It does not include crossovers; that would make it too difficult.

1. Brains but no heart; heart but no brains. Thieves. Avon & Vila (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] vilakins)
2. It started with a vintage car. Larry/Megan (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha)
3. One loves high open spaces, the other loves the depths. Legolas & Gimli (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] jhall1)
4. One could talk someone to death, the other uses explosives. 7th Doctor & Ace (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2)
5. Flirt, flower, wander.
6. Crossing swords with beer and scotch. Duncan & Methos (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] tptigger)
7. He taught him to use the power of the imagination.
8. They're as different as felines and canines. Jim & Blair (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha)
9. Intuition versus logic; idealism versus pragmatism. Avon/Cally (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2)
10. These elements are blue and grey. Sapphire & Steel (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2)
11. One makes dead things come to life; the other makes live things dead.
12. Investigative reporters; their boss is white. Lois & Clark (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] jaxomsride)
13. Defending democracy with recipes and code-words. Scarecrow & Mrs King (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mistraltoes)

We have a cool change here in Melbourne (even a teeny tiny spot of rain) but fires are still raging in the rest of the state. And it's flooding in Queensland; I wish they could zap the water to where it's needed. (sigh)

On a happier note, I'm pleased to point out the pending Gen Battle!
In the words of the organizer:
So the porn battle, obviously, was excellent, because... fandom. Porn battle. What's not to love?

Except I kept running into the obvious problem: I am in fandoms where bears and frogs go on road trips together and real people dive into human-sized bowls of pasta. As such, I have no interest in writing porn.

Gen fic (and art, for that matter), on the other hand? I am ALL OVER THAT.

Go! Submit prompts! Write fic!

I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] feliciakw for this earlier this week:
Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

I'd be curious to hear from [livejournal.com profile] watervole, [livejournal.com profile] vilakins, [livejournal.com profile] lizbee, [livejournal.com profile] jedibuttercup and [livejournal.com profile] jinxed_wood but you don't have to do it, only if you want to.

Alerted by [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 I have signed up as a "commentable" author for the [livejournal.com profile] dvd_commentary 2008 challenge. So if you would like to do a "DVD commentary" of any of my stories, I'd be delighted if you would do so.

kerravonsen: Gay Ellis: "I heart SF" (TV-SF)
I have just seen episodes 10, 11 and the Special of Operation Love, a Japanese time-travel love story. And no, I hadn't seen the earlier episodes, and I still liked it a lot.

kerravonsen: TARDIS, clouds: Dream (tardis-dream)
Looking at the Recent section of Teaspoon, I thought I'd pick out the lamest and the spiffingest titles.

Lame:
When the Doctor Met Jack
The Time Agency
The Big Bad Wolf
Who's Space?
Trials and Tribulations of a Time Lord (in love)
Rose Reunited
Aliens Against the Doctor

Spiffing:
Matters of Illusion
Another Side of the Sky
When Burnham Wood Comes Up To Dunsinane
(you can't go wrong stealing from the Bard)
Outside the Hourglass
Untouched By Frost
And Dismantle the Sun

Some thinky thoughts I had in the bus this morning...

I don't believe in One True Pairing; not in fiction, and not in life, either.

kerravonsen: animated sequence of geeks with the word "geek" around them (geek-anim)
I've now replaced my old "Let out your inner geek" icon with a new geek icon, with more than twice as many geeks!

I wonder if there's anybody who can figure out who they all are...

kerravonsen: Ninth Doctor: "I'm a Time Lord, I walk in Eternity." (Doc9-eternity)
Was cycling through my wallpaper randomly, and just happened to have a Labyrinth image come up immediately after (or before, I forget) a Doctor Who image, which made me wonder: how would the Doctor and Jareth interact? Especially Ten.
