While I am not interested in its being erotic (although the character might be), and I do not especially care if the author is in the story or not as long as it's done well (which it can be), I now want to see Kirk as an ocelot.

I think even thinking of making Kirk an ocelot, as opposed to a fox, wolf, tiger, or similarly frequent appearer, brings in an orthogonal level of geekery. But I don't know enough about ocelots to decide whether that's in a good way or a bad way.

Well, to be precise, we're above the porn writers. It is possible to write romance without the erotica.

Interesting that the erotica writers are considered to be on the same level as the Mary-Sue/self-insertion writers. Maybe it's because they're both indulging in their wish-fulfillment fantasies?
