Date: 2008-07-30 01:52 am (UTC)Reading the passage I quote above reminded me that Jesus doesn't take the shiny easy glowy way out, but the hard, difficult, humble and self-sacrificial way. No snapping fingers and having Angels carry him: that was a temptation he withstood. So having the Doctor being carried by "angels" and then having people say "the Doctor is like Jesus" because of that imagery... completely misses the point. Hence, "God is not a writer of Mary-Sues."
Edited to Add: Note, that I am not saying that I consider the Bible to be fiction; when I refer to God as a Writer, I am meaning God is the Author of all things, that the universe is His manuscript, and we are his Story.
