kerravonsen: Almost anything is fixable in fanfic (fanfic-fix)

In anticipation of the anti-theist trainwreck that is apparently this week's Doctor Who, I would like someone to cheer me up by writing a thoughtful fic in which Teal'c has a deep and meaningful conversation about false gods, with a devout monotheist.
Please?

I didn't think it was anti-theist. I mean, any more so that all of Doctor Who. The Doctor has a pretty respectful attitude towards the people's ideas, and although he calls out the "god" for not being a real god, well, it's pretty clear that it's NOT, and therefore he's right. He does have a kind of patronizing, "Well, if it makes them happy" attitude, but it turns out that the people are completely justified in wanting to keep their "god" happy.

Some of his attitude towards the false god pretty accurately represents some people's real-world attitudes towards God, but that has always been and will always be.

I wouldn't call it anti-theist. The Doctor is careful to point out that the entity that the locals are worshipping as a god is nothing of the sort. Surely it's not anti-theist to be against people worshipping false gods? And if you do call it anti-theist, then you'd have to call "The Aztecs", made way back in 1964, anti-theist as well.

That's a relief, I got rather nervous when I saw your post.
