I finally finished The Replacement Purple Tote!
Work on it slowed down when it grew too large to take on the bus with me, and then stalled when I got to the handle, because I would have to count and measure stuff before I could start on it.
But it is now done! Whew!

Pretty! I like the size of the opening. Some patterns I've tried make the opening to tight to really be useful as a "haul-it-with-you" tote as opposed to something more purse-like.

I hear you on the project size getting to big for the bus. I'm working on a serape for my friends young daughter and it reached the stage that it's too cumbersome to whip out on the train. All work on it has stopped as a result. I'll have to find time to work on it.

It's a simple crochet through the back loop to give a ribbed effect, but the yarn is fluffier than what I tend to regularly work with. I have to watch what I'm doing more as a result, and have a lot more light available so I can see the back side of the loop through the fuzz. Still, it shouldn't be too difficult to start working on during TV watch, especially if I pull my Ott Lite over to my chair.

You get some great mottled effects with two colours held together! I've never heard of knitting ribbon. I've been looking at market bag patterns that use cotton but that might be an option too.

Oh, I know the stuff! Yes, it does bring revolting baby colours to mind. I think people make hanger covers to soften the outlines of the hangers so they don't stretch clothes in angular ways. One of my plastic hangers did that the other day, but I'm not going to make any covers. They really seem to go with things like toilet roll covers; bags are a much better idea!
