Now I understand why people love Sherlock - it's the characterisation.
As well as the scintilating dialogue and the actual Mystery and brilliance of Holmes - but it's the character dynamic between Holmes and Watson that make it a cut above.

And, startlingly, there is actually quite a bit of gen (and gen-plotty) fanfic out there for it. If you can find it.
