Just seen "A Study in Pink" with
dawnmist.
Now I understand why people love Sherlock - it's the characterisation.
As well as the scintilating dialogue and the actual Mystery and brilliance of Holmes - but it's the character dynamic between Holmes and Watson that make it a cut above.

Date: 2012-01-26 07:32 am (UTC)I'm not surprised that the slashers have been all over this fandom with squee... which probably means that it's going to be horribly difficult to find any Sherlock fic that isn't slash. (sigh)
But, getting back to "A Study in Pink"... it's just so amazing how well this translated into modern day. I think John Watson's getting better treatment than he did in "classic" Holmes, where he came across as a bit bumbling, while here, he's more of a complement to Holmes, and not merely an "audience for his genuis".

Date: 2012-01-26 08:51 pm (UTC)I'm loving this show so very much. And, startlingly, there is actually quite a bit of gen (and gen-plotty) fanfic out there for it. If you can find it. I think it's drawing exactly the fan profile that we had in The Sentinel, with a few differences.
And I was a fan of Martin Freeman before, but after seeing him play Watson, I am his fangirl for life, I think. Facing down Mycroft and shooting through the window... yeah. Wow.
Oooh, hey, you like vids, right? There's a lot of great vidding going on in this fandom.

I expect I will be asking for recs soon enough. 8-)
