Just seen "A Study in Pink" with [livejournal.com profile] dawnmist.
Now I understand why people love Sherlock - it's the characterisation.

As well as the scintilating dialogue and the actual Mystery and brilliance of Holmes - but it's the character dynamic between Holmes and Watson that make it a cut above.

Yessss... John and Sherlock... Awesome characters and their dynamics totally sizzle. Just wait until you see the next five episodes. :)

I don't that think he comes across as that bumbling in the original stories, but some films and previous TV adaptations sadly reduced him to a state of near imbecility.

I agree with everything you say in your entry.

Yay, you're getting into Sherlock! :)

I'm loving this show so very much. And, startlingly, there is actually quite a bit of gen (and gen-plotty) fanfic out there for it. If you can find it. I think it's drawing exactly the fan profile that we had in The Sentinel, with a few differences.

And I was a fan of Martin Freeman before, but after seeing him play Watson, I am his fangirl for life, I think. Facing down Mycroft and shooting through the window... yeah. Wow.

Oooh, hey, you like vids, right? There's a lot of great vidding going on in this fandom.
