Observation: Leonard Cohen can't sing. He's not quite as bad as Dylan, but other people are much better. So, oh flist, tell me if there exists CDs which have Leonard Cohen songs sung by other people? And can I get them on Fishpond or Amazon?

Jennifer Warnes did some great covers in her album "Famous Blue Raincoat", and I love her duet with Cohen in "Joan of Arc". :-) I couldn't find "Bird on a Wire" on YouTube which is a pity; I love her version.

Lots of people have recorded Cohen songs, but presumably you wouldn't be interested in a CD where an artist had recorded one song by Cohen and ten or eleven songs by other people. However I believe that Amazon (and some other music download websites) allow you to pay for and download individual songs from some of the albums that they stock. (I'm assuming that what is true of the UK Amazon will also be true of the Australian Amazon, but if not I don't think that anything would stop you from using the UK - or US - Amazon.)

Many people have recorded versions of "Suzanne". Judy Collins' is particularly good IMO. There are also lots of versions of "Hallelujah" and "First We Take Manhattan" out there.

I hadn't thought about buying individual songs. Hmmmm.
