kerravonsen: Three camels with riders: WISE MEN still seek Him (wise-men-seek-him)

Our family decided this year, that since we're all here for this Christmas, that we would have the general present-giving on Christmas Eve afternoon, rather than Christmas day. We had afternoon tea (or was it a light feast? Or afternoon dessert?) after the presents, a spread of lovely fruit, some frozen yoghurt, and my Christmas pudding ice cream, which had been suggested to have today rather than tomorrow, because (a) people would be too full tomorrow to enjoy it and (b) it would go well with the fruit (which it did).

For those who are curious, and so that I have a record, this is what I got:

* From S & N and family - a CD "Rain" by "Sons of Korah"; S went and saw them in concert recently and he was very impressed.
* From parents - some kitchen things (potholders, teatowels etc) and money for clothes
* From Dad - his copy of what he considers the best translation ever of Dante's inferno (translated by Allen Mandelbaum) (wow) I mean, I know we were talking about it a few months ago, but I just wanted to borrow it, I didn't expect him to give them to me. (wow again)
* From Aunt E - a pendant, and a silver chain
* From J & D and family - a paperback copy of "Balance of Trade" (alas, poor J managed to give books to three people, books that they already owned; unfortunately for me, I did the same with one of my nieces!) However, it's useful to me, because I bought it when it was in hardback, and I actually prefer paperbacks.
* From D & S and family - a really nifty shoulder bag, woven in an interesting pattern; from Indonesia? I think I shall find it useful as a craft bag.

Those sound like good presents. I loved the Dorothy L Sayers translation of Dante; I'd like to know what you think of this one.

That sounds lovely! And I find myself envious of the teatowels. I should put those on my to-buy list. :)
