CPAP diary
Jul. 17th, 2004 08:55 amWoke up at about 7:40. Woke a couple of times in the night, but I think it was because I'd accidentally not turned down the electric blanket enough and I was too hot. I normally preheat the bed at the top setting, but I turned it down after I'd put on the mask and therefore didn't have my glasses on, so I just guessed at the setting and hadn't turned it down enough. The times when I woke up were a bit awkward, trying to decide whether I would lie still, hoping to sleep sooner, or wake myself up more to move my arm to touch the Ramp button. I usually opted for the latter after lying for a while, though the last time, I didn't. I got more used to the mask as the night progressed.
In the morning, still feel tired, a little achy, a little dry in the mouth (but that is huge improvement to the desert my mouth usually has been). Initially felt a bit odd around my front teeth, not sure what exactly. Though I feel tired, I feel as if I have slept more (which should darn well be the case). Have definite mask-marks on my face, which hurt a little. Spent most of the night on my back, maybe that's why my back feels a bit achy.
The rubber part of the mask was, as Jeff said, condensation city, when I took it off to clean it.
About twenty minutes later, I'm feeling less sleepy and more alert. Perhaps actually human, for the first time for a long time. Definite improvement. Though I suspect I'll have run out of energy by this afternoon; not an instant cure. Lots of catching up to do. After all, waking up at all was counted as a Bad Night in the old days.

Date: 2004-07-16 07:33 pm (UTC)Sorry, I forgot to mention that it already came with a US-to-Australian plug. So all I need is a US-to-UK plug.

So everyone keeps telling me. (sigh) One of my surmises is correct, I think: if life-without-CPAP wasn't so utterly crappy, I'd be minding this a lot more.
I may get out the stocking tonight.
And the Discipline of Having to Braid My Hair Every Night. (sigh)
But, no, I don't think I would look good with a Servalan-style haircut.

Date: 2004-07-16 07:49 pm (UTC)Don't braid it. Put it in a ponytail and add some extra bands at intervals to keep it together.

Date: 2004-07-16 11:17 pm (UTC)Hmmmm. No, I don't think that will work. Certainly can't put it in one ponytail, because that can't be slept on. That means two ponytails, which means smaller elastics which will probably be harder to deal with... I could give it a go, though. It may still end up being simpler to plait it.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.
