CPAP diary
Jul. 17th, 2004 08:55 amWoke up at about 7:40. Woke a couple of times in the night, but I think it was because I'd accidentally not turned down the electric blanket enough and I was too hot. I normally preheat the bed at the top setting, but I turned it down after I'd put on the mask and therefore didn't have my glasses on, so I just guessed at the setting and hadn't turned it down enough. The times when I woke up were a bit awkward, trying to decide whether I would lie still, hoping to sleep sooner, or wake myself up more to move my arm to touch the Ramp button. I usually opted for the latter after lying for a while, though the last time, I didn't. I got more used to the mask as the night progressed.
In the morning, still feel tired, a little achy, a little dry in the mouth (but that is huge improvement to the desert my mouth usually has been). Initially felt a bit odd around my front teeth, not sure what exactly. Though I feel tired, I feel as if I have slept more (which should darn well be the case). Have definite mask-marks on my face, which hurt a little. Spent most of the night on my back, maybe that's why my back feels a bit achy.
The rubber part of the mask was, as Jeff said, condensation city, when I took it off to clean it.
About twenty minutes later, I'm feeling less sleepy and more alert. Perhaps actually human, for the first time for a long time. Definite improvement. Though I suspect I'll have run out of energy by this afternoon; not an instant cure. Lots of catching up to do. After all, waking up at all was counted as a Bad Night in the old days.
