I have just managed to put the top on the bottom and the bottom on the top of my new IKEA chest of drawers. And, no, I'm not taking it apart to do it again, because I've managed to strip the heads of a few of the fasteners. (Some were wonderfully easy to turn, some weren't.)

So my chest of drawers is going to have holes on the top, and no legs on the bottom. It could be worse -- I could have put the legs on not realizing it and then found I was trying to put the drawers in upside-down. That would have been a disaster. This, this is merely a mishap. I can still have a functional chest of drawers without legs on it.

(sigh)

Ah, I did better then. My clothes chest only has the back on backwards. And it had to be fastened on with nails, so I'm not changing that either. My sister, on the other hand, is great at assembling furniture. She got a lot of practice when my mother kept buying stuff from a local chain called Leenbakker.

No worries, no legs means you won't be struggling to vacuum under it. And make a feature of the holes by using them as candle holders if they are big enough or use self adhesive circles to cover them up and cover the rest of the top with them as well to make a polka dot surface. Then cover with a couple of coats of clear varnish, you could use pretty wrapping paper instead and treat it the same way. Or you could do what I would do and just ignore it , by the time you put things on it, Nick knacks and such no one will notice.
