Crafty Completions
Sep. 13th, 2015 11:07 pmThere have been a few projects which have been incomplete, unfinished, or not even started. But I have finished three of them today!
First, we have my lucet-cord-with-beads necklace, which has been waiting for the ends to be bound and a clasp to be added. And then I made some earrings to go with it.

Peach and brown necklace by Kathryn Andersen. Glass pearls and lucet cord.
The way this was done, was that the beads were strung on one string, and the lucet-cord was made with a second string, and I would trap a bead and string in the lucet-cord every N stitches (where N varied between 24 and 30 depending on the size of the bead). When all the knotting is done, one then pulls on the first string to make it tight. This method of luceting (without the added beads) is apparently known as frogging.
The second item is a set of earrings which I had been meaning to make since I got the Swarovski key charms, but hadn't gotten around to yet. Until today.

Set of key earrings by Kathryn Andersen. Top: Swarovski key charms; middle: laser-cut wood charms, coloured with black permanent-ink pen and black embossing powder; bottom: antiqued brass key charms.
The third item... oh, this has been haunting me. It has been mostly done for a while, but I wasn't sure (a) whether I needed to make it longer, and (b) how to bring the ends to a point where I could put a clasp on. But it is done!

Autumn necklace by Kathryn Andersen. Weave: Acanthus. Rings: ID=5.6mm, WD=1.0mm (Copper, Bronze, Brass); ID=3.97mm WD=1.0mm (Copper, Bronze, Brass, Enamelled Copper, Anodized Aluminium)

Date: 2015-09-15 01:41 pm (UTC)8-) Yeah, it really was hectic today!
My uncertainty about the length of the autumn necklace was due to the problem that I tend to hold necklaces up to me to measure them... and my neck is very fat. Which means that I misjudge how long a necklace needs to be if I want it to be a short necklace -- which for a flat band necklace it does need to be short, so that it can be either a choker or something that rests against the collarbone. But something which is a normal choker length won't reach around my neck... 8-(
I'm very pleased with the beaded lucet-cord, it really came up nicely!
