For putting on the salad you made to eat with the steak.
Also for attacking Slitheen.

Is there any writing or mark on the bottom? I've tried to track down the age of mine and the dutch oven my grandmother gave me is 100 years old. It's so fascinating to me.

Well, I can't examine my family frying pan, because it's at my father's place. And mine, it is new... and it doesn't have a maker's mark, no.
