Interesting podcast on Sapphire & Steel.

Well, I've just finished listening to the first Big Finish Sapphire & Steel audioplay, and I have to say, "Yes! They're back!" My hopes were not dissappointed, the Big Finish folks know how to do spooky, and spooky they did. Sapphire & Steel is very well suited to the audio-play format, since often what they're dealing with is felt rather than seen.

Even though they couldn't get the originals (Johanna Lumley and David McCallum) Susannah Harker and David Warner do a spiffing job. Oddly enough, even though David Warner was really David-Warner-y -- enough so that I could see his face while he was speaking -- he does make a good Steel. I almost wonder if, when I go and rewatch some episodes, whether David McCallum would end up feeling like the imposter instead. (grin) Naw, I like the original Steel too. But David Warner does "grim" very well.

So I'm very glad that I signed up for the whole first "season" that Big Finish are putting out.

Does anyone know of any good Sapphire & Steel mailing lists or discussion groups?

Due to popular demand, I've done screencaps for the first two episodes of "Robots of Death" instead of doing something sensible like writing my [livejournal.com profile] b7friday story. Oh well. The screen caps are in my gallery page -- just follow the links to screencaps, drwho, robots_of_death. I also put up my old attempt at "Sapphire & Steel" screencaps (just one episode).
