For those who did not realize it... my previous post was not an appeal for pedantic corrections to canonical naming conventions. It was intended to be FUNNY.

Thank you to those who did get it.

For those who are curious, my personal naming convention is probably going to be:

The War Doctor
Nine
Shalka!Nine (darn, I forgot to include him!)
Ten
Handy
Ten-A (okay, forget this, Ten after JE is still Ten, even though he is technically Twelve)

Shalka!Nine?

Before we got the return of TV-Who with Christopher Eccleston, and after we had the TV-movie with Paul McGann, the BBC made an animated "webisode" called "The Scream of the Shalka", which featured Richard E. Grant doing the voice of the Doctor (and Derek Jacobi doing the voice of the Master... which means he got to play the Master twice!).

The canonicity of Shalka!Nine is problematic, to say the least. Since he was created by the BBC, he's official, but since he was not referenced in the TV series, he isn't. In the episode, he refers to events which are not consistent with TV canon as it now stands, so I think it would be rather difficult for him to be made official again rather than ignored as he is now. So I think he will remain in a sort of official/unofficial limbo. I consider him to be a sort of AU Doctor, though I suppose someone really creative could shoe-horn him in somewhere.

Why Handy _and_ Ten-A? Shouldn't it be one or the other?

Since Eleven confirmed that Ten actually used up a regeneration during "Stolen Earth"/"Journey's End", then "Handy" is the half-human Doctor who came from Ten's hand, and Ten-A is the Tenth-Doctor-with-the-same-face (who is technically the next Doctor because he regenerated). Though I guess I'll just call him Ten anyway...

Yeah, but you can't count both Handy and post-JE-Ten towards the 13 lives total. Either Ten is life #11 and Handy is life #12, or else original-Ten is #11 and later-Ten is #12 and Handy doesn't count. I prefer the first option.

You do realise, you now have to re-do the entire thing from scratch including Shalka!Nine (although I always think of him as REG).

And aren't Handy and Ten-A the same thing?
