If I was going to be a real quibbler, I would number them in screening order. Which would mean that the War Doctor is 12, and the Brand New Doctor would still be thirteen (or One-A).

Ah, but if you were going to be a real quibbler, you would still have to renumber them, because Ten was in fact both Ten and Eleven. Something which I actually forgot to include in my final renumbering image... which just demonstrates even more how confusing it all is, since I couldn't even get it right when I was making fun of it.

I regard that as just more of Ten, and Hurt was the Warrior rather than the Doctor (though not at the end), so I'm going to boringly stick with the existing numbering because it will be far too confusing otherwise.

Which is why I have decided the as the Doctor has been granted another regeneration cycle, then Peter Capaldi is not twelve, thirteen or fourteen but 1A and so all the confusing numbering can be ditched - until the writers muddy the waters once more.
