Wire Wrapping!

Today I made my first wire-wrapped pendant:

Mind you, my first attempt I had to remove and destroy, because it was so horrible. Uneven wrappings, and toolmarks everywhere. 8-(
So I'm feeling insecure, because while this one is better technically, I think it's worse artistically. 8-(

This one wraps the shell more securely because of the position of the bottom spiral.

Date: 2013-07-29 02:31 am (UTC)i actually have a stone that my energy healer gave me that i want to do that with, one of these days when i get ambitious enough to give it a try.
If you do want to do it yourself, the absolute minimum you need is wire and a pair of pliers. Plus some random household things to use as Mandrels (something to bend your wire around to give it a smooth curve) -- such as knitting needles, pill bottles etc.
Or get yourself a $5 pair of round-nose pliers.
There are lots of how-tos on the web.
