More Chainmaille!

I had these intentions to read books over my mini-break, but I did not read a single one.
Instead I started watching "Person of Interest", I made some chainmaille, and I fixed up the old server so I could scan in said chainmaille. The old server is now only used for one thing: the scanner, which is attached to it. Though I may also use it for text-to-speech conversion because of problems with Festival on Sabayon Linux (the old server is running Ubuntu Server 12.04 now).
But here's what you're waiting for: the pretties!
Red and gold necklace set:

(next item is not being shown because it's a present for someone on my flist!)
Pendant:

I actually made this before the break, but I hadn't been able to scan it in before now. My first attempt at maille wrapping! Though I tried multiple things before I got something that was stable. It's a rather heavy pendant. It will need a suitably heavy chain to go with it, I think.
Hair chain for MEEEEEE!

Though I think this hair chain is going to be too heavy to wear. It's made mostly of enamelled copper and anodized niobium, which means it isn't light like aluminium.
Edited to point to new offsite album

Date: 2013-11-08 12:46 am (UTC)Beaded hair clips? I'm intending to make a few for me (or for Middle Niece). The way it works, you get some hair clips which have a hole in the end so you can attach things to them (or maybe a bobby-pin would work too). Then you make some beaded dangles and attach them to the hair clip, and slip the clip into your hair. That kind of decoration works for any length of hair. With the nice beads you can get at your local craft shop, you could make something tres elegant, I think.

Date: 2013-11-06 08:45 pm (UTC)I still want to do a Melisandre necklace some time, considering the amount of brain-space I used when we were discussing your costume.

I'd be tempted to use the pendant above for the "red stone" part of the necklace, but it's very heavy, too heavy for a choker-style necklace, I think. That kind of bead on its own might work, though; I still have a few of those beads left.
It's interesting the things that have changed between then and now - now I'm in a position to make a fancy chain rather than buying one. Though I'm still enamoured of the plaited leather thonging idea too.
