This is an "abusive Dursleys" story. There's a lot of them about. So what makes this one different? The way it is told. Not just that it is second-person present tense, but the way it holds your attention, the expressive and vivid language. No melodrama here: Snape is very Snape-ish, still plotting and taking off points even as he helps Harry.
