My laptop is a gonner. Yesterday it started playing up and today it continued to do so, in a manner which made it impossible to use. Basically, at random intervals, everything freezes, the fan goes on, and absolutely nothing will get any response out of the computer -- even when I left it for an hour, when I came back, the fan was still going, and the computer was completely unresponsive to every single thing I tried. No Ctrl-Alt-Delete, not even the hold-the-power-button-down-for-five-seconds reset worked. The only thing that works is unplugging the machine and pulling out the battery.
Gotta be a hardware problem. So, while the laptop has not yet technically shuffled off its mortal coil, it is basically terminall ill and useless.

And I'm going to the UK in exactly one week. A trip where I had intended to take my laptop with me. Which I shall not be able to do now.

And this is on top of the fact that my desktop has been playing up and I was intending to replace it when I had managed to scrape together enough money. Two at once is Bad News.

Though I suppose I should have expected it -- they are both quite old. The laptop is at least 5 years old, and the desktop is older.

(sigh)

Tomorrow I am going to buy a pocket dictionary, so I will still be able to run the Lightening Fanfic workshop.
But I might not be able to get my RemixRedux assignment done in time. (sigh)
