Okay, I've decided that Harry is going to have a friend at primary school; he's deaf and his name is Geoffrey. (No, I don't know why his name is Geoffrey; that's the name he wanted).

I have two more questions for you all:

1) If Harry is teaching himself teleportation (Apparition) - which I declare he could do, because he did actually Apparate accidentally before Hogwarts - would he be able to figure out how to Side-along Apparate a Muggle (specifically, his friend Geoffrey). This is important, because if he could, then he and Geoffrey could have adventures together...

2) How plausible would it be that Geoffrey is adopted?

(I still need a wee!Harry icon. Any good sources?)

I would be surprised if Harry could randomly learn side-along apparition, however, sometimes not knowing how difficult/impossible something is causes a different perspective. If you are writing super!powerful!Harry, then having him work it out would count as in character to me, but if you are writing, oh look, somehow things worked out anyway type Harry, then it wouldn't be. Simple answer - if you can convince me with the writing, then sure.

Re: adoption - I would be surprised if adoption was common in Britain at the time, but people with unusual life stories deserve to have their stories seen as well, so even if it wasn't very plausible, you get the same answer as above - if your writing convinces me, I don't care about how likely it is.

Re Apparition. Half the trick with magic is believing you can do it. It's doubt that causes the problems. As Harry won't know how dangerous doing a Side-Along untutored is, of course he can do it!

As for adoption, just as plausible as any other child.
