Thoughts for the Day
Feb. 23rd, 2012 06:34 pmThere will always be injustice. And it must always be fought.
Self-righteousness is by no means limited to conservatives; all it takes is a group of like-minded people and a lack of humility.
It is much easier to hate faceless groups than individuals. It is also much easier to forgive individuals than faceless groups.
Diatribes without action only produce ulcers.

Date: 2012-02-23 05:20 pm (UTC)Also, you remind me that someday I want to make a post (if I am ever brave enough) about how, while injustice must always be fought, not every single person is called to actively fight every single injustice. There's little that makes me more apathetic than everyone around me demanding that I embrace their particular cause, some of which I don't even agree are actual injustices (and therefore would be an actual waste of my time), and many of which are not as important to me as various other ones. And this is okay.
We are each called only to our own limits, and must learn to give each other grace within those limits, politically as well as in the rest of life. IMHO.

Date: 2012-02-23 09:00 pm (UTC)I'm not so sure about that. I can hate individuals very easily. If and when I do hate (and I frequently do), its because of particular opinions or attitudes, and I don't think it makes much difference whether those opinions are held by an individual or a group.
