Beads + Crochet = Bead Crochet
Dec. 11th, 2011 05:34 pmI have now done my first actual bead crochet!
I finished this last week, but didn't scan it until today:

I wouldn't have made a necklace from that particular string, but I was using (another ball of) it on a bag, and I noticed how silky smooth it was, as well as a lovely colour, so I thought I'd give it a go, using pony-beads and Thai silver beads, since smaller beads wouldn't fit. It seems to have worked.

Date: 2011-12-12 08:26 pm (UTC)I'm curious as to what kind of yarn you used.
Technically, it isn'y yarn, but string (or twine). I don't know if you have them there, but here we have a kind of shop (sometimes called a $2 shop) which is full of really cheap things (often imports from Asia) but there's no guarantee that any particular line will be there the next time you go in. There's two of this kind of shop in my local shopping area, and one of them had, in the "hardware" section, next to the nuts and bolts and screwdrivers, various kinds of string. Balls of cotton string (which I used for this bag) and balls of polyester packing string, and cylinders of this beautiful silky synthetic twine, in yellow, red, green and blue. I bought one cylinder of each colour; then I went back and bought as much of the blue as I could, because it was such a gorgeous colour.
