I Have Achieved Tote Bag!
Oct. 9th, 2011 10:05 amThis morning I finished crocheting the purple tote-bag. It is going to be given to Someone for Christmas, yes it is.

I have also been making soap savers. Which will also be for Christmas. With luscious herbal/organic soap inside. The difficult part now is figuring out who gets what.

I love crochet!

Date: 2011-10-09 08:21 am (UTC)Half of them are cotton, and the other half are nylon knitting yarn. The nylon knitting yarn is just slightly abrasive enough to make for a good exfoliating scrubber. The cotton is much softer. I reckon that some people might prefer one over the other.
the tote bag is a gorgeous colour
Thank you! It's done with two strands of nylon knitting yarn, one purple, one lavender. I discovered when experimenting with the soap savers that if one uses two strands together, the result is quite stiff; hence we have the tote bag that can stand up on its own.
I'm pondering whether to make a fruit basket in a similar manner, but I'm not sure if anyone would really find a fruit basket useful.

Date: 2011-10-14 10:46 am (UTC)It was my sister who put me onto the nylon knitting ribbon; she said that the best soap-saver she'd ever had was made of it; she liked it because it didn't retain as much water as the cotton, so the soap inside didn't turn into soapy goop.

What size are they?
The coins are there to hopefully give an indication of scale.
The bag is an interesting shape too.
The bag was a combination of a few different patterns. I wasn't entirely sure how it would turn out.
