Well, I have cancelled my second line and initiated the transfer of my phone to Telstra. The line will be cancelled today or tomorrow, which means that, until I actually get ADSL, I will be stuck with one line, which means that I will be more difficult to contact by phone, since I'll be using the remaining line for both internet and phone.

Note to self: try to use internet less. Hit-and-run email downloading, more mailing lists, less surfing, less livejournal. Well, it will be the fammine before the feast.

In other news, I bought a pair of hiking sandles today at lunch time. Well, they weren't really hiking sandles, but they were walking sandles anyway. From bogong, which is just around the corner from where I work. They only had about five different styles available, and I ended up trying almost all of them before we found one that was okay for my odd feet. Two things made it difficult: one is that my feet are short and wide (hmmm, maybe you should call me Hobbit!), the other was that my right foot is larger than my left foot, so that a sandle that fitted my left foot was too narrow for my right foot -- and one that fitted my right foot was too long for my left foot. But we did find a pair that was a reasonable compromise, and what's more, they were the nicest-looking ones of the lot, with brown suede (or pseudo-suede) uppers rather than woven straps. So, bye-bye to my old sandles that are too small, flat or pressurey! (hey, [livejournal.com profile] lizbee, what size are you?)

I'm a size 5-6, depending on manufacturer. Have very small feet...

I hope the changeover goes smoothly from here on. The faster connection has been such a blessing, especially with LiveJournal (and, okay, shopping ::guilty look::).

How are hiking / walking sandals different from other sandals? Massive soles and decent arch-supports? I live in sandals in summer but it's hard to find comfortable ones as I like to have arches in them and virtually no heel, and most have flimsy soles with no padding. I love Kumfs but I have to travel a fair way to find a store.
