Happiness Will Prevail

With the understanding that "good" is entirely subjective, what's something that wasn't on television that made you happy in the last week?

- Getting three presents for my birthday. Yes, my other brother's family gave me a present too, on Friday. A squee-worthy present, it was a lovely wind-chime made of blue, green + purple glass, and copper, in the shape of a Star-of-Bethleham. It was too pretty to hang outside, so it is hanging in my bathroom.
And my parents gave me some nice ornaments, plus promises of assistance with some things that need doing with my house. - My birthday dinner. Eldest brother+ couldn't come, but parents, second-eldest brother + spouse, and a couple who are amongst my closest friends, who live out in the country so I don't see them that often any more, so that was squee-worthy too. And it was an unusual eating-place; the name (StarBBQ) makes one think that it's a Texas Steak House, but it's actually Asian food (Vietnamese/Chinese/Japanese style). One cooked at the table (or had the pre-cooked food if one didn't wish to cook) and an all-you-can-eat buffet. Worth remembering, especially now that our local Indian restaurant, which was the best Indian restaurant in Melbourne, has apparently changed management, and isn't as good any more.
- My Redemption T-Shirt, which arrived on Tuesday, and I wore it on Wednesday. Perfect timing: it was quite hot on Wednesday.
- My Morgan DVDs, which likewise arrived on Wednesday.
- A whole pile of Chesterton books which arrived on Monday or thereabouts. I've been reading his biography of Saint Francis of Assisi... Chesterton does tend to ramble a bit, and I'm ignoring his occasional aside into how great Catholicism is... (smile)
- Discovering the existance of blosxom, which, while it is a blogging system, it is so flexible and scriptable that I'm considering whether I could use it as a Content Management System to replace my current hodge-podge of scripts. That's one of the things that's been occupying my spare time this week.
- Actually having done a bit of work on my TP story.
- Just having bought some things at Target this lunchtime: some slipper-socks, four Christmas decorations, and a black lace poncho (which I impulsely bought because it was the last one there...)
- That my cleaners came yesterday (they come once a month, a really nice couple) and actually managed to reduce the stain on the carpet in the lounge that came from repeated storms causing leaks through the door to the garden.

Date: 2004-11-18 01:06 pm (UTC)I wouldn't dare buy clothes for a catalogue, because you can't try them on beforehand to see if they (a) fit or (b) suit. Looking at models doesn't help.
