Summary:When Miranda Hunter's Muggleborn nephew receives his first Hogwarts letter, Albus Dumbledore offers Miranda the Muggle Studies position. BNW explores how a Muggle might view and adjust to life in the Wizarding World. Three Books: Book One PG-13 and GoF-canon compliant, Books Two and Three AU and increasing to R with NC-17 interludes. Snape/OC. Adventure/Mystery/Romance.

(I rate this Teen because the "adult" bits are done as optional side-stories, easily skipped.)

Before you run away screaming because this is a Snape/OFC romance, Miranda is not a Mary-Sue. I like how Miranda thinks; not only does she bring an outside perspective, but she knows her own fields, and has a level head.

Snape is snarky, which is good. But behaving like an adult, which is also good. He seems to be more mature than many portrayals of Snape. Mind you, this was written before OOTP, I think, and thus we avoided the Dark Git of the later books. And he has a completely different backstory than the one we found out in OOTP.

I wasn't that surprised when I saw references to Rebecca Anderson in the author's footnotes; this story does have a feel like the Darkness & Light series, particularly in Snape's characterisation, and in the redemptive feel of it. Which makes it definitely worth reading, in my book.

So... what do you think?
