(As I understand it here, the idea is that if you do have one I've listed, you correct me in the comments and I try again.)
What do I have that folks on my friendslist don't have? Well, of course, for most of you, I don't have that much of an idea, so I shall just have to guess. I also want to try to pick interesting ones...

Date: 2004-10-15 05:21 am (UTC)And I've a copy of The One taped off the television, though I don't know if that counts, since I probably won't keep it once I've watched it.

Date: 2004-10-15 06:24 am (UTC)Yes, it is my Dad. It's his most popular book, it's been translated into multiple languages. And I am ashamed to say I haven't read it. I keep on meaning to, but... Mind you, I haven't read any of his other books either... I dipped into his Feistshrift, but that was a book in honour of him, not actually written by him. I've read shorter things by him that he's lent me, though; articles and stuff.
Well, I have written my biblereading script (first pass), and have set up 3-year plan which gives me about a chapter a day, so that's a good thing. Maybe when the plan gets to Job I'll read the commentary. Though that will be in three years, the way this thing is going: it's day 288 of the year, and therefore I'm in the middle of Samuel, and the "Job" section was (since this is a chronological plan) put in the middle of Genesis, so I've missed it. Hmmm, maybe I should add an "offset" option.
I have The One for the same reason that you might have a copy of the Highlander episode "The Stone of Scone". (evil grin)
But I don't think recorded-off-the-TV-with-no-intention-to-keep really counts.

Date: 2004-10-15 02:05 pm (UTC)And no, The One doesn't have Jarriere in it. But I did not get it for Jet Li.

Date: 2004-10-16 01:33 pm (UTC)Absolutely. I saw it in the cinemas, and was very delighted when I managed to track down a copy for myself. If I recall correctly, my copy is ex-rental...
But I have been to Israel. I lived there for a while.
Really? I'm intrigued. When and how and why?

Date: 2004-10-16 04:14 pm (UTC)I've been to some places no-one would bother to go to, but I suppose I picked interesting ones instead to knock down. Hey, it generated some good discussion. :-D

Date: 2004-10-16 04:26 pm (UTC)Yes, well, that's why I picked it (grin). Saying "Auckland" would have been stupid...

Date: 2004-10-16 01:52 pm (UTC)The actual "Wagner's Rinse Cycle" of the title consists of three parts: "Ride of the Valkyries" performed by the Cambridge Buskers, a recording of the Rinse Cycle of the Bendix Thor frontloading washing machine (grin), and "As Brunhilde's Battle Cry Might be Sung by an American Crooner" by Alex Templeton.
I got it as a present for my father, and then went and got a copy for myself.

Date: 2004-10-16 04:10 pm (UTC)No, it was for a holiday. I did visit the battlefields at Beersheba and Masada but had not then formulated my plans for the Masters thesis.
I did visit The Mount of Temptation, where no member of your sex has set foot in over a thousand years...
