Gakked from all over:

(As I understand it here, the idea is that if you do have one I've listed, you correct me in the comments and I try again.)

What do I have that folks on my friendslist don't have? Well, of course, for most of you, I don't have that much of an idea, so I shall just have to guess. I also want to try to pick interesting ones...

Books:

J.R.R. Tolkien: Smith of Wooton Major
Agnes Furlong: The School Library Mystery
(Michael J Behe: Darwin's Black Box)
Francis I Andersen: Job, An Introduction and Commentary

Videos/DVDs:

Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (not that Disney thing starring Brandy, the older one starring Lesley Ann Warren and Stuart Damon)
The Stranger: Summoned By Shadows
Jesus of Montreal
(The One)

CDs:

Andrew Thomas Wilson: Oz - Tales from the Blue Ship
Iona: The Book of Kells
Era
Wagner's Rinse Cycle

Places I've Been that no-one on my friendslist has:

New Guinea
Israel
Paradise near Queenstown New Zealand
Jenolan Caves, New South Wales

I started to ask you if the Job commentary is any good, and then I noticed the author's name. Is it your dad? :) I'll just assume you think it's good, then, shall I, or haven't you read it?

And I've a copy of The One taped off the television, though I don't know if that counts, since I probably won't keep it once I've watched it.

I have The One for the same reason that you might have a copy of the Highlander episode "The Stone of Scone". (evil grin)

::scratches head:: Hugh Fitzcairn is in it? No, that doesn't sound right. I shall have to watch The One this weekend and see if I can work out what you mean.

I have 'Smith of Wooton Major' too. I don't have 'Jesus of Montreal' but I've seen it and loved it. Amazing film.

But I have been to Israel. I lived there for a while.

A few years ago when I was single and very footloose, I spent 4 years on OE. The first part was most of a year in Israel as I'd always wanted to go from a small child. I worked half-days and studied Hebrew half-days, and had a wonderful time and made some amazing friends from all over the world. [sudden attack of nostalgia]

Is that purely a NZ term? So many of us flee overseas, we have an expression for it: overseas experience, almost always shortened to OE. I thought you'd have it there too, but then you're more secure in your place in the world.

I didn't mean that they don't, more that they don't need an expression for it as it may not assume the importance it does here. Australians have a stronger sense of self than us.

And I toured for almost several month in Europe with two Australian friends and met many more. :-)

And you should add another place now. :-)

Not if it's a small out-of-the-way place. I hadn't been to Paradise.

I've been to some places no-one would bother to go to, but I suppose I picked interesting ones instead to knock down. Hey, it generated some good discussion. :-D

And I have to know. What's Wagner's Rinse Cycle? Because that made me LOL.

That sounds so funny. I'll have to look for it. We do enjoy Weird Al Yankovich.

Doing research?
No, it was for a holiday. I did visit the battlefields at Beersheba and Masada but had not then formulated my plans for the Masters thesis.

I did visit The Mount of Temptation, where no member of your sex has set foot in over a thousand years...

Does it count if I once own Michael Behe's "Darwin's Black Box" but sold it last summer? :)
