The difference between Thought(*) and Feeling is like the difference between Digital and Analogue, between Natural numbers and Real numbers, between mathematics and poetry. Logic has two values: true and false (or three values: true, false, and unknown). Feelings are more fuzzy, but cover a greater range; they are both more and less accurate than logic.

(*) Thought as in reason, logic, rationality.

I somehow missed this when you first posted it.

I like this analogy, especially the digital/analogue one (my boyfriend is a sound tech nerd, so he talks about the differences a lot). And it allows for both to have their place, because they reach different areas and sometimes one is more useful than the other for a specific situation or purpose.

Exactly. I've been trying for a while to think of an analogy regarding Thought and Feeling that puts them both in perspective, because all one gets when meta-discussion about them occurs is people arguing that one is better than the other; that one ought to be logical, or that one should "listen to your feelings". I put that down to the different speakers being T or F in the Meyers-Briggs sense, and thus not questioning their assumptions one iota about which one is "better". Because T is better for Ts and F is better for Fs.
