Doctor Who 5x08: The Hungry Earth
Jun. 12th, 2010 10:03 pmMore slow catching up of Doctor Who.
Aie! I didn't realize that this was a two-parter.
Nicely creepy to start, but as soon as Amy was taken, I knew that none of the victims were dead.
But why did they have the "Future Amy and Rory waving from far away" thing? There has to be a reason, but I can't see what the reason is, yet.
Silurians? Very pretty this one is. But, bah! I am sick of how nobody EVER seems to learn when it comes to a conflict between the Silurians and the Humans. The Doctor always tries to negotiate, and nobody EVER listens. And I can see it's going to happen again. (sigh) I am sick of it.
Of course Alaya knows which one will kill her; it's the one she stung, Tony Mack.
Though the victims seem well-chosen if one's aim is to provoke a massacre: a husband and son, a best friend and fiancee, a son.
My only hope is that Alaya is part of a radical faction and that most of the Silurians down there just want to leave things as they are.
I like Nasreen Chaudhry, she has the enthusiasm to be a companion, but I suspect that she's going to end up dead, instead. Which will then get people complaining how all the PoC are discriminated against, again.
There were lots of good little bits; the amusing thing where they thought Rory was a policeman, the bit where the Doctor says to Rory that he needs him to be with him on this instead of arguing with him, the "I'm the last of my species" bit.
"I'm dyslexic, I can't write the words."
"I can't make meringue."
"You're treating this like it's an everyday thing!"
"No.... Every other day."
I am liking Eleven; he has a touch of vulnerability as well as the "take-charge"-ness. And he babbles nicely.
Darn it, I'm yawning; I don't think I can watch the next episode tonight.
