Yes I am very behind. My hand is improved, but not better. So I have finally been catching up a bit.

Another creepy Moffat script. Yessss.

Is there ever going to be a clown in Doctor Who that isn't creepy?

I loved the parallel between the Beast and the Doctor. "All the pain, all the misery, and all that did was to make it kind."

Interesting that the Doctor was so quick to reject Amy, and then she proved herself with both intelligence and compassion. I loved the way they hugged at the end.

Well, he had been doing a lot of "I don't take companions any more" at the end of his previous incarnation (even if that was dictated by the specials format!) So I imagine the new Doctor thought "Right, I miss companions, I'll start doing that again" but, once a problem arose, was quick to backtrack: "Maybe I was right the last time and it's not such a good idea."

And the recent incarnations have been a bit uncertain about companions when they first meet - I got a definite sense during The End of the World that the Ninth Doctor was having doubts about Rose when she showed signs of culture shock (in fact, the doubts seemed to be mutual), and possibly auditioning Jabe as an alternative, while the Tenth Doctor kept telling Martha "Just one trip" for her first few episodes.

Glad your hand is doing better! I also loved that scene at the end. After Ten's last few episodes he really needed that hug.

Watching this ep made me nostalgic for the old 4 episodes per story way of doing the Dr. Moments that could have been played for drama, leaving the audience with a cliff-hanger scene(or scream) as the credit music played seemed instead rushed moving on before I had time to appreciate the moment.

But still a good ep with an interesting twist.

I liked the parallel, but wished it hadn't been quite as anvil-y in execution. Fandom has now adopted "starwhale" as a metaphor for heavy-handed storytelling.
