Come up with an internally-consistent reason for chain-mail bikinis.

There are psychics who can see through anything non-metallic. Chainmail that's fine enough works as well as a solid sheet of metal, as long as the chainmail is made of the right kind of metal.

In order to avoid being leered at (or in some communities where if a woman's "private parts" are seen by a psychic who isn't in her family it's her fault for not being covered, rather than his for staring), some women wear concealing garments made of chainmail under their clothes. In parts of the world where women's clothing isn't expected to be as concealing, some women wear just the chainmail bikini - not only does it mock the more-restrictive parts of the world, it's a wordless signal that "my body is not on display; the parts I am covering are not yours to gawk at".

I doubt I could, but I do remember a cartoon years ago in Dragon Magazine, where a group of adventurers are at the tavern bar, and the pneumatic babe of the party is sitting with all these arrows sticking out of the chainmail bikini, saying "that was a really tough spot, but luckily I was wearing my armour..."

This is true, and you can blame the artists for this.

I'm sure I've told the story before that when I wrote my first comic series, Kingdom Of Hades, I specifically described the female characters as "these are Mediterranean athletic types - Definitely *NO* pneumatic tits." Of course when the art came in, the artists had obviously only registered the last two words...

Have you read "Chicks in Chainmail."? There are some great "logical" reasons in the whole series of books.
Oh and some really funny stories!

Mind you a platemail bikini isn't much better!
