kerravonsen: Jack O'Neill writing a report: "It was a dark and stormy mission..." (Jack-mission)

Thought for the day: Beware of quick fixes, because temporary solutions have a tendency to become permanent.

Meme from [livejournal.com profile] lizbee:
Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

"The Egyptian Menace"

I really liked the imaginative use of real history in this story. I've always been impressed when a writer does her research and I suspect Kathryn drew on some of the stuff she's written in the past for Stargate. When Donna first met Tutankhamun, her reaction was pure delight. I love stories with a well-written Donna - still my favourite companion. Her cheerful ignorance of history combines with a genuine enthusiasm when she meets it in the flesh and has the Doctor to bring it all to life for her.

I particularly enjoyed the scene where the Doctor was arguing with teh sculptor working on Nefertiti's bust.

"A Skull of Kindness"....

It isn't easy pull of an Asterix/Stargate crossover and make it work. I especially loved the way the touching but (of course) ultimately doomed love stories - Carter/Obelix and Teal'c/Latraviata - were woven into the political saga of Jack O'Neill's rise to leader of the Gaulish nation. And how you made the magic potion fits into the battle against the Goa'uld...? I would never have thought of that...

(I think you can guess what I've been reading today...)

That makes perfect sense :)

(Actually, it does, should I worry??)

"A Pound of Prevention, an Ounce Obscure"

Because really, who could expect anyone to pull off such a cracktastic idea as a galaxy-saving mind meld between Avon, Larry Fleinhardt, and Jarriere? I'm sure I'd never have thought of it.

But... but... it wasn't a serious suggestion. Jarriere is the little black wildebeest of fandom, no? But in your hands, he is really the key to making the whole thing work. Your logic and creativity both really shine in this story.

(Also, your icon speaks volumes.)

The Mod3rn Mathematician in the Shakespearean Sonnet

I think my favorite thing about this fic (aside from the fact that it's Bones/Numb3rs, and I cannot tell you how long I've been waiting for a good crossover of those shows) is the interaction between Charlie and Brennan. They're not really on the same wavelength at all--except for the rare moments when they are. It's almost enough to make me 'ship them. *looks at Booth and Amita*

Almost.
