I have just realized that there is something else which makes me lose my patience even quicker than the things I mentioned before: someone who continuously complains about something that it's within their power to change, yet never does anything about it. What's that saying? "Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness."

Bloody whingers.

Met quite a few of them in my job. The ones who whinge the most about why someone isn't doing something to reduce pollution/protect species/clean up rivers/etc are the ones who are least likely to be willing to support such work from their own pocket.

You can spot them pretty early on. The ones who really want to help also have a lot to say, but they say it differently. They talk to you, not at you.

Anyone with a monologue is bad news.

Ah yes, the mysterious and omnipotent "someone". The same kind of people complain about the government not solving all their personal problems; everything is someone else's fault and someone else's responsibility...

That actually wasn't the specific kind of irritant which prompted my complaint; this case was someone who kept on saying that fanfic was "too limiting" and kept on threatening to leave a particular fandom, but never did (perhaps she was fishing for compliments...). In order not to be a do-nothing whinger myself, I actually wrote her a letter today asking her why she was doing things she obviously hated...

Anyone with a monologue is bad news.
