This is going around again...

4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
astrogirl picked the following:
1.
I did this for
icon_style challenge #2 "Windmills of your Mind", so I was all experimenty with circles. I thought it looked cool, so that's why I put the caption "cool" on it.
2.
A "Shiny!" icon done for
icon_style challenge #5 "The Pen is Mightier Than The Sword"; lots of people have "Shiny!" icons, so I took the opportunity to make one, and I wanted to make it very SHINY, so I used the same techniques I'd gotten from a tutorial I'd followed for NAtional ARt MAking MOnth last year, to make something that looked like glass.
One of the nice things about
icon_style is that it prompts me to make icons I might otherwise not have gotten around to making.
3.
This was done for
icon_style challenge #9 "Mirror, Mirror" (noticing a theme here?) And another nice thing about
icon_style is that it prompts me to make icons I wouldn't have even thought of making, like this one. But after I made it, I thought it would be useful as a Buffy icon, a "Buffyverse" icon (more useful than my old Giles icon) and a general "psychological" icon.
4.
And yet another
icon_style challenge icon, done for challenge #10 "Fancy Frames". It was kind of backwards in creation, since I thought of the design and then made the fancy frame for it, rather than looking at a fancy frame and using it as the basis for the design. This was another one of those "I made it for me" icons; I wanted a food icon, since I'd seen other people's food icons being useful, so I made it up of some of my favourite (healthy) foods: nuts, noodle soup, and (herbal) tea.
5.
This one was also done for
icon_style challenge #10, but this time the frame came first. Or maybe the image did, but it was a made-by-someone-else frame, anyway. The image itself is one of my favourite ever photos I took, in Paradise, New Zealand; yes, the place was called "Paradise". It was a farm, where some of the scenes from The Lord of the Rings trilogy were shot, and my friend and I went on an air-tour of LotR sites, and the little Cessna landed in a field there, and we walked around. It was beautiful. So I'm very glad I finally made an icon of it. I use it for "beautiful nature" subjects, or when I just want to use a pretty icon. Maybe I should retire my "Creation" icon, since this would cover it, too.

And I'm studying #2 as well... such a simple technique, it looks like, but so effective.
The tutorial I based it on: http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/Make-A-Cool-Glass-metal-Sig-15783-1.html
