Woke up about 4:20am. After failing to get back to sleep after more than an hour, I gave up. Am I never going to get a full night's sleep? Why am I waking at these ungodly hours? (sigh) I know, I know, I have to get used to it. (sigh)

Probably because you're getting something vaguely resembling a normal night's sleep after months of effectively no sleep. Your body has a skewed sense of when you've had enough.

Just in case you haven't already tried this - hot milk *does* work for a lot of people, but leave the chocolate out because it has caffeine. Horlicks or Ovaltine instead, no Milo. Apparently bananas are also a good natural source of the relevant amino acid. If necessary, get up and make some at 4:30. My first purchase of a microwave oven was largely inspired by the discovery at someone else's house that microwaves make it incredibly easy to make hot milk at 4:30...
