State of the Fic

Here's what I'm working on, stuck on, wanting to polish, guilty about not working on.

1) jedibuttercup's birthday fic. About half done. I need to consult with a helpful HP fan in order to figure out some details I need in order to go forward.

2) The Vorkosiverse/Harry Potter crossover I wrote for bujold_fic needs polishing. I'm not happy with the ending, but I don't quite agree with the suggestions I've had so far for fixing it. Needs a good beta. Any volunteers?

3) The Donna-fixit story that it looks like I'm writing for the finish-a-thon. I'd written the first scene before I put it on the finish-a-thon bunny list, but I need to research for it, because I actually have no clue as to how I'm going to *fix* Donna (because the part of the bunny that bit me was more along the lines of what she would do before and after she was fixed). I have a list of Wikipedia articles to read, because I figure that a good way of going about having a plausible fix, is to try to figure out a more scientific explanation as to why there is a problem in the first place.

4) The sequel to "Complications" (finish-a-thon bunny). I've written a few fragments for the immediate follow-up story, "Farewells", in which Martha wraps things up in preparation for her trip.

5) My Buffy & the Doctor story (finish-a-thon bunny). No progress.

6) My Doctor Who/Sapphire & Steel story (finish-a-thon bunny). No progress.

7) A sequel to my dw_cross story; I got bitten by a bunny. I've written the start, but the bit after that keeps on meandering in different directions because I don't know where I'm going, or, more precisely, I know where I'd like to go, but the straightforward method would be out of character for the characters concerned.

8) crossovers100 stories; no progress. I'm wondering whether I should bow out of this. It hasn't really been that helpful for my fic writing, because I keep on getting ideas and then trying to shoehorn them into the table, rather than the challenge helping me have ideas. It's not like I'd stop wanting to write more Doctor Who crossovers if I dropped it.

9) "By Any Other Name" revision. Completely stalled. The backstory story "Paradox" I was writing for this has stalled, and I'm also finding it hard to get interested in writing this Rose after what happened at the end of S4, not to mention that one of my betas said that I got Rose wrong, and I have no clue how to fix her. Very discouraged on this story.

I have a story to get down by next week (on the theme of "communication") and I have no idea what to write. Then there's the finishathon one and a charity one I have to do by the end of September.

I have the same problem with fanfic100 as you do with your crossovers. I've only got about 9 more to go, but I've neglected it for months. Sigh. I'll have to add that to the list too.

If it's something that makes you sigh (or me sigh) then maybe we shouldn't do it...

Nah, I'm so close, I should finish. But you know, I though it would take me about a year and it's been more like three. I should finish before October which will be the three-year mark. I think I only wrote about five stories for it though; the rest or from my site or b7friday. :-P
