The tale is as follows...
Being late and tired leaving work, I caught, as is my wont, a bus home. I had with me my backpack, containing large laptop, small laptop, and all the other usual things that my backpack contains. I also had a plastic bag, which contained purchases I had made today, plus the contents of an Amazon parcel, which I had picked up from my mail box on my way out this morning, which I opened at work after lunch.

I was listening on my MP3 player to an audio book ("Fledgling" by Sharon Lee & Steve Miller) and working on knotting a bookmark. So engrossing was the book, that I left my bag on the bus when I got to my stop, and it wasn't until I was half-way home that I realised I had done so.

Oh noes! I thought. I have lost four books (including my father's birthday present) and my CSI Season 7 DVDs, and my audiobook of the latest Temerairre novel! Oh noes!

But I pulled myself together, and thought that the bus driver might find it, especially if I called the bus company straight away, and since it was the second-last stop I got off at, and a late bus that was practically deserted, that it was unlikely that someone would have stolen it in the meantime. So I looked up the bus company's website, and decided to ring the (nearest) depot rather than the general enquiries, since that would be where the bus would end up at the end of the shift, and that was probably where the Lost+Found place was, and they would have radios to talk to the bus drivers with, and they would be manned while the busses were still running.

So I rang the depot, and the man was nice and helpful, and I described the bag and its contents, and he said he would ring me back. And he rang me back, and they found the bag! So I am going to the depot tomorrow and pick it up. Whew!

So, I am proud of myself for keeping my head.

Yay! That's such a sickening, sinking feeling when something like that happens. Indeed, go you, for keeping your head.

I admit, I am quite good at losing my head... but then, losing anything and everything is a speciality of mine {sigh}

Hurrah! (and it's nice to hear a positive story about bus staff as well)

Someday, I'd like to stitch a design like that. Annoyingly, I have the picture, but no pattern.

Oh, well done! I've left books on trains, and the only good thing is hoping someone else found them who'd enjoy them.

Good for you and congratulations! These are horrible moments and one must act very quickly. Not all of us can do it. I am glad you made it!
