Crossover Awards
Jul. 16th, 2004 10:11 pmWell, in between this, that, and the other, I've spent hours today nominating stories for the Crossover Awards, a rather limited set of awards for its name, but pragmatic: it's only awards for stories crossed with about eight different fandoms, the reason being that there's no point in having a fandom listed unless they've got someone competent to judge it. Part of the reason I have been so madly nominating is because the Buffy, HP and Stargate sections are notable by their dearth of nominations -- and there is no way I will let Mister "Xander-Sue" Tenhawk's work be the only nominations in the Stargate section of the awards! (Nor be the most prominent entry in the Buffy section, either).
So, since they say one can nominate as many times as one likes, I've been nominating things that I've merely liked as well as things I've loved. We shall see how it goes.
So, if you like crossovers and like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, Hildago, Gundam Wing, Stargate, or Actor insertion, then go and nominate your favourite crossovers -- so that they can have something decent to chose from.

Date: 2004-07-16 05:31 am (UTC)Well, you could always write a Stargate/Buffy crossover between now and August 1.

Date: 2004-07-23 02:56 pm (UTC)I admit I've been reluctant to look at "When Hellmouths Collide" even though I've seen it mentioned here and there, because (a) it's a crossover with Hercules and I'm really not familiar with that universe and (b) it's a crossover with Hercules and I can't see how such a crossover could be made believable.
But if you think it's better than "The Scarab" then I guess I'd better take another look...

Oh good -- so it's a Buffy-to-Hercules crossover from the Buffy PoV? That makes it easier.
...the best-written crossover of any fandoms, all-time, bar none
Wow! That's a tall order!
Yep, we're doomed. Our Buffy crossover story nominations are doomed. (Yes, I have one nominated too). Still, it's cool to get nominated!

(puzzled look) Didn't you get the notification email I sent when I did the review? I always try to tell authors when I've reviewed their work...

Date: 2004-07-23 06:18 pm (UTC)And I suppose I can take some cold comfort in that I'm not competing with "When Hellmouths Collide" in the Stargate category. *g*
As for POV ... the majority of it is Scoobies POV, though they do shift to POV's of Hercules and company once they're introduced. Smoothly done...
And good luck to you!
