Oh HAI flist!

I have 35 people on my flist, and I'm on other people's flists (44 of them). You folks range from close friends to people I've never so much as talked to on LJ once, with a big bunch falling somewhere in between. Hello! Welcome!
But y'know, I'm shy of friending people I don't know, and I feel awkward to just jump into and comment on friendsfriends even if they've said interesting things, because I'd just be a random stranger, yes? (Comments on fic is notable exception) And, even more embarrassing is when Person A (whom I think I don't know) turns out to actually be Person B whom I do know, but using a different nom-de-net. Very confusing.
So, what I'd really appreciate is if all of you flist folks, wherever you fall on the spectrum, would come on by and say "hi" here. (Re)-introduce yourself, maybe mention how you ended up friending me, tell me something random about yourself, whatever you like. And, if you're so inclined, let me know what you'd like from me as a, um, flist-person, whether it's "Don't mind me, I'm only here for the fic" or "Don't be such a stranger, come on over to my LJ and talk to me more!" or "Actually, we don't have any fandoms in common any more and I'd like to take you off my flist now" or "Hey, the only reason I haven't been commenting here is because I felt awkward about talking to you", or whatever. It's all good! I won't get offended or freaked out by any of it, I promise.

Date: 2008-04-08 09:38 pm (UTC)I think I friended you first; I know you from your gen rec list, and we seem to have a lot in common wrt age, fic tastes, and profession, and have enough of a common religion (probably not the best way to put this!) that we at least understand where each other are coming from.

Date: 2008-04-08 09:49 pm (UTC)I'm glad I'm not the only one that's happened to. :)
And, wow, I appear to have started a meme. Go, me! I'm really happy with how much response this has gotten on my LJ, and I hope it does prove to be a useful thing for other people to do, too.
Anyway, oh, yes. Hello! And you know I'm cool with being talked to when you feel like talking and with not being talked to when you don't. :)

Comment in my LJ as much as you like. I love hearing from you!

hmm...the only sports I am good at tend to be ones with some kind of fighting application (archery, fencing, martial arts...). I have NO idea why.

Date: 2008-04-08 10:02 pm (UTC)I always enjoy hearing what you've got to say, especially regarding stories and Deep (sometimes Theological) Thoughts. We also have a ton in common, including our attitude towards the awesomeness that is genfic, and our view of God. I hope we stay friends for a long time!

I love having you on my friendslist almost as much as I love being on yours. I've really enjoyed your Doctor Who fic, thus far (Oh! I just finished S3! Does that mean I get to read your other Saving-the-day-without-Bad-Wolf fic, now?) and I love posting my impressions about various Who eps because I know you'll always have something amusing or interesting to say in response.
Also, you make kick-ass icons.

We both like playing with icons.

And, wow, I appear to have started a meme.
Well, it's a good idea, and you expressed it in such a way that people are hopefully not shy about giving an answer.

{big hugs}
I've given up on long-distance air travel because it takes too much out of me and I can't seem to adjust to the timezone changes any more; New Zealand is about as far away as I'll go now.
I curse the time zones which mean I almost never feel safe phoning you in case you're in bed!
Weekends are probably the best time, there's a larger window of opportunity.

Date: 2008-04-08 10:46 pm (UTC)Er, no, because I've taken it down because it's undergoing a complete rewrite (stalled at the moment, because of Multiverse and other things).
Also, you make kick-ass icons.
So do you.
If I recall correctly, I friended you because we had some mutual friends in common, and I thought, hey, she's been friended by John C. Wright, she must be interesting, and we have stuff in common, let's give this a go, and I never regretted it for one minute.

Date: 2008-04-08 11:59 pm (UTC)I'm a fanfic junkie. Especially crossover fic. Oh yeah--now that I've looked at your info page, I remember. I've been looking at your Katspace fanfic reviews for years. I friended you when I realized that this was you!

Date: 2008-04-09 12:56 am (UTC)Our common interests are Billy Joel, books, chocolate, computers, House, movies, music, reading, science fiction, web design, and writing. I should probably update my interests because they wax and wane over periods of time and my list may be outdated. Most of our common interests are common between most people.
But I have to ask you why you like Billy Joel, because he is one of my all time favorite singer/songwriters. I've been to every album tour he has done since his Greatest Hits Tour in 1984.
Anyway, if you want to know more about me, you can read my Profile (http://timewanderer.livejournal.com/profile). I don't post nearly as often as I'd like to. That part waxes and wanes, too. But since I friended you, you can get more info about me in my "Friends Only" journal.
