Decided on "Robot" for the Old Skool of choice, and it went down well. Yay!
I was reassured when I saw the "rated G" on the tape, and, yes, T did not hide her face this time. L liked Four's mixture of cleverness and fun.

When the Brigadier was talking on his R/T, L said "That's a really clunky handphone."

I asked T to look at the copyright date on the tape, and it was "1974"; I pointed out that in the 70's, that was state-of-the-art.

So L said "So if we were watching it then, we would have said 'Cool!'" And then proceeded to say "Cool!" at appropriate points. (grin)

After "Robot" was over, she wanted to see what all the other Doctors looked like, so I was pulling out tape and DVD covers, and showing her. Didn't find a good one of Seven, so we repaired to the study, and I showed her Seven and Eight. She pronounced them all to be "Doctorish" in appearance. Which was cool, considering she's only seen Nine and Four.

Now she can show her face to her cousin E, who was the one who actually caused this Who-watching spree, since he was shocked that they'd been staying with Aunt Kathryn and hadn't seen any Doctor Who (with words to the effect that they couldn't come over again until they'd watched some Doctor Who). (E being E, his favourite episodes are "The Satan Pit" and "Blink", because they were really scarey.)

I'm glad it was a success. I watched The Three Doctors with my niece when she was little. I thought that was a safe fun story, however G said the blobby things (antimatter monsters) were too scary.

Actually, I'm not sure what we would have said in 1974. It was too late for "fab" but, I think, too early for "cool". :)

I think that "groovy", like "fab", was 1960s. And I think both were used more by DJs such as Jimmy Saville, trying to be trendy, than by "normal" people, at any rate outside of Liverpool..
