Doctor Who: Time Crash
Nov. 17th, 2007 10:37 amWhee! It worked, it was fun, it made sense!
In some ways, it was all "school reunion" again -- that is, Ten being nostalgic about the past, in a sort of self-indulgent fannish way. And it was sort of meta-ish, except the mention of the LINDA lot made it canonical.
And how much more Five and Ten had in common than I'd remembered. And absolutely lovely lovely point that the Doctor preferred looking older when he was younger because he was actually less mature -- I forget the exact words.
I love how it actually managed to explain itself (including the apparent aging of Five), and fill in a plot-hole while it was doing so -- that is, how come the TARDIS was vulnerable to being crashed into by the Titanic.
The mention of the "wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey" stuff was also very fitting, considering that here, as well as in "Blink" we have an ontological paradox.
Edit: found the quote:
"I was always trying to be old and grumpy and important -- like you do when you're young."

Date: 2007-11-17 02:41 am (UTC)Can you explain the LINDA reference to me? My Dr. Who knowledge is spotty, and the chance of trying to dig that up in the Discon guide are like the chances of a Ten Doctors anniversary special. Not. Good. :)

Date: 2007-11-17 11:34 am (UTC)(a) (external) Because they had to explain why Peter Davison was 23 years older. Therefore anything vaguely handwavy will do.
(b) Because they were in Ten's TARDIS, so Five was the one hit by the time differential.
