The courier company has a website where one is supposed to be able to track parcels. The info on my parcel still says "tried to deliver on 30th October, we left a calling card". I ring up the computer people, and they say it is out of their hands and I have to just wait.

Each party involved keeps passing the buck.
The first stuff-up was, yes, when I made a mistake in the address. However, I rectified that on 2nd November. The computer company claims that they sent the change of address request that day. Whether they did or not, there was no delivery. I thought, hey, there was a public holiday, maybe it took them time to process it. Still no computer delivery. I ring up the computer company. They claim it is out of their hands.

Yesterday, I ring up, ask them to check with the courier company, in case the parcel-id has changed. The courier company claims they never got a change of address request. So the computer company sends another change of address request (and this time I asked them to ring up the courier company to make sure they actually got it). The computer company claims that they did so, and that the change of address has gone through, and the computer should be delivered "tomorrow".

That was yesterday.

Sounds like no one wants to take responsibility. Can someone at least verify who has it right now?

Oh, the courier company has it, that's definite. They just haven't delivered it.

It's not quite that bad; my main computer may be sick, but is still works, so I'm not cut off yet.

And the good news is that I contacted the courier company and they said that they would make an exception in my case and allow me to tell them where to redirect the parcel. So I sent them an email as they instructed. I haven't heard back yet, so it may all be in vain anyway, but it is a bit more hope, yes.

If they still fail to deliver, then it might be time for you to start muttering threats about taking legal action (even if yoou don't really intend to).

It can't hurt to threaten both. That may encourage the computer company to put pressure on the courier company. If you don't know any lawyers who would offer you free advice, then it might be worth asking for advice on the newsgroup aus.legal

How did you pay, and has your account yet been debited? If it's possible, then cancelling the transaction and stopping payment might be the best solution.
