I re-watched "Rose" yesterday, and it just occurred to me -- what if Clive became one of the Doctor's companions?

Though he probably wouldn't want to.

I don't think he would want to leave his family. But he would've been interesting. He at least would have had some background and been more interesting. (I'm not much of a Rose fan in case you hadn't realised)

Its a pity he died. They could have brought his character back and expanded it in either TW or DW.
