Well, whether or not anyone is interested in participating in a "NOT The Last of the Time Lords" ficathon (not worth running unless there's at least 10 people), perhaps the following might be inspiring to some of you:
1. Lucy Saxon is Romana. (
lizbee already did this, of course)
2. Harriet Jones wasn't deposed after all.
3. almost the same, but without Homunculus-Doctor or Tinkerbell-Doctor.
4. The laser-screwdriver wasn't isomorphic.
5. The TARDIS's isomorphic controls (ref "Pyramids of Mars") were actually working, so the Master couldn't steal the TARDIS.
6. They didn't try to unmask the Master, they just stayed in the TARDIS and dismantled the Paradox Machine 10 minutes (or 1 hour or whatever) after it activated.
7. The Doctor got into the TARDIS before the Master stole it.
8. Professor Yana didn't open the watch.
9. Martha said "Mind if I borrow your watch?" when she noticed Yana's watch.
10. Martha didnt' notice the watch until after they were all in the TARDIS.
11. The Doctor stole the Master's TARDIS.
12. The anti-Timelord gun was indeed a fake, but one of the chemicals would actually un-age the Doctor; the Master fiendishly doesn't destroy the gun, but uses it on the Doctor.
13. The Master goes too far with his torture and the Doctor regenerates.
14. The Torchwood gang weren't in the Himalayas after all.
15. The Brigadier organizes a rescue.
16. Sarah-Jane Smith organizes a rescue.
17. Lucy Saxon murders the Master in his sleep.
18. The resistance shuts down the Archangel network, and the Toclofane are no longer under the mind-control of the Master, and decide that they like Martha.
19. The Doctor doesn't try to run away from Jack, so they don't end up in the year 100 trillion.
20. It was all a dream.
Any more ideas?

Date: 2007-07-06 01:40 am (UTC)I'll be watching--mostly for purposes of mocking how much they cut. :)

Date: 2007-07-05 01:35 pm (UTC)That would be my choice, but I really don't think I feel like writing it.
8. Professor Yana didn't open the watch.
This, on the other hand... Well, if and when we do another finish-a-thon, it'll probably be on the list. Not that it'll be likely to lead to a happy ending, the way I do it. Because he can't not open it eventually. :)
10. Martha didnt' notice the watch until after they were all in the TARDIS.
That variation could be really interesting.
20. It was all a dream.
That never counts as a fix, you know. :)

True, but maybe it could be slightly happier?

Date: 2007-07-05 01:37 pm (UTC)But I'm particularly impressed by 10, 12, 13 and 18.
I wish I could sign up, but I don't really like ficathons, or indeed writing; it takes me so long to produce anything, I don't like it when I'm done, and I'm so far behind with everything else in my life I'm afraid of taking on any extra responsibility.

Date: 2007-07-05 09:14 pm (UTC)I like 18, because Martha is made of win. 8-)

Well, pointless if you don't like writing, I'd think.

Date: 2007-07-05 09:10 pm (UTC)Wouldn't it be more sensible to just destroy the watch?

Date: 2007-07-05 09:16 pm (UTC)Yeah, but if the Doctor hadn't run away, then Jack wouldn't be clinging to the outside, and the TARDIS wouldn't be trying to shake him off.
Your number 15 is particularly tempting, but I think that the odds are against my taking part.
Well, you could write it anyway, just for yourself... (go Brigadier!)
