kerravonsen: Cally in the dark: all alone in the night (Cally-alone)

I've been wondering -- especially after I discovered [livejournal.com profile] structuralism (a comm for writing challenges that are about style, not content) -- whether it would be worthwhile starting an icon-challenge community which is also about style rather than content. A lot of icon-challenge communities are fandom-specific, and while that's good, if one is interested in other subjects as well, those tend to get neglected.

So, what I'm thinking of, would be to make an icon-challenge community where each challenge was about some style or technique, and didn't mandate the content. I'm rather inspired by the "creative" challenges that I've seen in [livejournal.com profile] tardis_icons, for example:
- monochromatic
- light textures
- rectangles
- non-square icons

If I were to run it, I'd probably make it not very intense; probably make the challenges monthly or something like that, because I know people have lives and want to do other things as well.

But it wouldn't be worth starting at all if there weren't enough participants to keep it going. Anyone interested?

I would try (mind you, I'm in two weekly challenge communities as it is, but what the hell...) and I'd be willing to put a note on my LJ (for the iconmakers on my list) if you go ahead...

And I'm interested as I said elsewhere. :-)

I would certainly try, though I expect mine wouldn't be much good. :)
